About PoppyDM
PoppyDM is a rural radio specialist built for brands and agencies, with one purpose: to make rural radio as easy to plan and buy as any metro market. As a Direct Marketer, we work hand in hand with companies, brands, and agencies, pairing proprietary coverage technology with a hands-on, direct approach. The result is a dependable source for reaching the markets outside the rated metros.
Why Rural Radio
In rural America, radio isn't background noise. It rides along in the truck, plays in the barn, and carries the weather, markets, and local news people plan their day around. That loyalty makes it one of the most trusted ways to reach rural customers.
Who we serve: Media agencies and buyers planning local, regional, and national campaigns that need to reach beyond the rated metros. We work across all categories, with deep expertise serving clients in agricultural retail, commodities, and livestock.
Independent by design. We work with stations case by case, so every recommendation follows your client's targets.
Meet the Founder
Kathleen "Kat" Fink is the founder of PoppyDM and co-creator of bisqqit. With more than 24 years in national radio sales and media planning, she has spent her career helping agencies and advertisers reach the hard-to-reach audiences that matter most. She founded PoppyDM to give advertisers a dependable, full-service source for rural radio, backed by technology she helped build. Through bisqqit, agencies, brands, and broadcasters can map radio coverage against their target locations, making planning easier and buying decisions better informed.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
PoppyDM is a rural radio specialist that helps agencies and brands plan and buy radio in the markets outside the big cities. Your team sends us the brief, and we deliver a rural buy that's qualified, priced, placed, and verified, so you don't have to chase dozens of small-market stations yourself.
-
Rural radio means the stations serving small towns, farm country, and the communities outside the rated metro markets. Many national plans stop at the metro line and miss these listeners entirely. Yet rural audiences are loyal: radio rides along in the truck, plays in the barn, and carries the local news, weather, and market reports people plan their day around. For brands with customers, stores, or dealers in these areas, rural radio is one of the most trusted and efficient ways to reach them.
-
Both. For agencies, we work as an extension of your buying team, taking on the time-consuming rural portion of a plan so your buyers can stay focused on strategy and the rest of the campaign. For brands, we work with you directly to build a rural radio plan around your locations, goals, and budget. Either way, you get one point of contact and a partner who knows these markets firsthand.
-
No, we’re not a rep firm. We’re a direct marketer working with independently owned and operated stations on a case-by-case basis, without an exclusive station roster.
Our clients are the brands. We start with your client’s goals, target locations and customers, then identify station options based on coverage and campaign needs. Every recommendation comes with a clear explanation of how that station can help reach the people your client wants to connect with.
-
A Coverage Audit shows exactly how well radio reaches your client's target locations. You send us the locations (stores, dealers, counties, or ZIP codes), and our proprietary coverage technology maps every station's signal against them at once. You'll see which stations truly serve each location, what percentage of each area they cover, and the audience demographics behind them. Just as important, you'll see where a current or proposed plan has gaps, before the buy goes out.
-
Anywhere from a handful to hundreds. Because our technology analyzes every location at the same time, a large retail footprint or dealer network takes no more effort on your end than a single market. Send us store addresses, a county list, ZIP codes, or a spreadsheet of locations, whatever format you already have, and we'll take it from there.
-
Yes, agriculture is one of our specialties. We pair radio coverage with county-level crop, vegetable, and livestock data, so you can see where production is concentrated and which stations deliver the strongest reach into those counties. Whether you're marketing seed, equipment, feed, animal health products, or ag financing, your plan lands where your customers actually farm and ranch, timed around the seasons that matter to them.
-
Yes. Radio is our focus, but through our trusted digital partner we can extend a campaign online to the same rural audiences. Radio builds awareness and trust; digital helps capture the response. We coordinate both with your radio schedule and manage everything through one point of contact, so your team doesn't have to juggle separate vendors.

Just fill out the form on our Contact page. Tell us a little about your client or brand, your target markets or locations, your timing, and what you'd like help with: a Coverage Audit, rural market research, or full campaign support. If you're not sure yet, that's fine too. We'll follow up to talk through your goals and recommend the best next step.
